I guess it would depend on how big of a lizard you are talking about?

If they are Komodo dragons, they will eat your chickens. If they are big enough and your chickens are small enough, they will eat them.

Lizards at that size are a meal, most lizards don't have teeth that are sharp enough to do any damange.

Ummm, lizards don't have teeth. They have sharp jaws, rather like chickens have sharp beaks.

Iguanas are large lizards, but as adults are vegetarian, chuckawalla and gila monsters are large, and would eat a chicken if they got hold of one. Not sure about the chuck's, but gila monsters are REALLY slow, so as long as they don't catch the chicken in a bite...

As for a lizard the size of a finger, it is too small to eat even a bantam chick. Consider the size of the lizard's mouth, and its normal food size. Probably small crickets and possibly meal worms.
