Hi. I have just gotten four Rhode Island Red hens. They are about 22-23 weeks old. Just started laying. They have lots of space to roam, get good food and lots of fruits and greens for treats. This week the color on their faces started to change. It's getting discolor ex and blackish. At first I thought it was dirt but it's spreading. Should I be worried or is this normal? I'm worried. They seem quite happy and healthy otherwise
Any advice is appreciated

A picture would help if you can get one,

Please get some good photos of that and post on "emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures," thread. We'd like to see the photos also. Apart from the color, are they acting normally (for chickens), eating, drinking, pooping, mingling with the flock?? Are they dust bathing a lot and the dirt sticking to them? Does the blackened area rub off if you try to clean them?
