I have Vista on my laptop, and have upgraded to 7. Seems that I have BOTH operating systems on this baby now, as it asks me which operating system I want to use. How do I get rid of Vista without messing up 7? I think I know that Vista is now windows.old, but not sure. Help?

Was this installed as upgrade? Sounds like it got installed in parallel - two stand alone programs. Do you really need that memory to risk an uninstall?

(this is from the family geek. Please confirm with another knowledgeable source before action.)

To remove Windows Vista from your computer, do the following in Windows 7:

1. Press Start and click Control Panel
2. In the search box, type advanced system and click on View advanced system settings in the search results
3. Under the Advanced tab, click on Startup and recovery > Settings…
4. Change the default operating system to Microsoft Windows 7 and click OK
5. Click the Start button, right click on Computer, and select Manage
6. In the left pane, click Disk Management
7. Find the Windows Vista partition, right click it, and select Delete Volume

Windows Vista is now removed from your computer. You may now reclaim the partition or put it to another use.

Hope this helps

It appears to be a drive of it's own, but I wanna make sure first! Wish copy and paste would work here!
Here is what I have:

OS (C

NTFS, Healthy (system, page file, active, primary partition) 45.82G Capacity, 13.79G free
Recovery (D

NTFS, Healthy, (Boot, crash dump, primary partition) 10.00G capacity, 53 mb free

Guess which one is giving me a low disk space error? Ha! But it won't allow me to delete it, the option is in grey, not in black. Can I just format the drive from My Computer?

That is sooo cute, the HTML won't let me do a colon, then an end parenthesis, it makes a smiley face! Bahahhaaa!!
So I edited it.
