Hi Friendz..

I am in 19th day of my incubation process. But I am facing an issue with Temperature and Humidity. Currently Humidity of my incubator is 45%-50%. Since it is 19th day, I tried to increase humidity level with a wet towel. But when humidity start to increase, my thermometer shows the temperature as 38.6-38.9 Celsius. (I am using two thermometers to confirm the temperature level. there was 0.2 Celsius temperature different on these thermometers before put this wet towel. I think this is normal. Ealier my first thermometer shown temperature as 37.5 to 37.7 and second one show the reading as 37.7 to 37.9)

Will this cause any problems to my chicks??
or
If I keep the humidity in between 45% - 50%, will it reduce the hatch rate??

How to solve this issue?? Please help..

Can you keep the room cooled down? Keeping the room a lot cooler like putting a fan in, etc.. should reduce temperature in your incubator.

I checked the temperature in midnight... Environment is already very cool here at that time. I cannot understand that, what is happening..

If I keep the humidity in between 45% - 50% as on early days, will it reduce the hatch rate??

Lower humidity might cause a poorer hatch, it can shrink wrap the chicks as they pip and / or you might have harder shells.... there are a lot of factors at play.

Humidity is easily raised by increasing the surface area of something damp/ wet inside the incubator, if a towel isn’t working can you use a shallow dish of water or wet paper towel? To be honest my temperature usually drops when I raise humidity - could your towel be reducing airflow or adding insulation somehow? You still need good ventilation and airflow at this stage, the chicks need good oxygen levels.

What is the temp of ur room ?
If room temp is higher then u should shift the incubator in a cooler room
Room temperature in day time is about 29-30 degree Celsius. Is this too hot?? In night time, it is about 26-27...

I have no idea why putting a wet towel in there would increase the temperature like that unless it somehow interferes with the thermostat. What make and model is your incubator or is it homemade? How is that wet towel arranged? How hot was the water you used to wet the towel? That sounds like the core of your problem, whatever you did with that towel. Hopefully the temperature has stabilized and gone back down.

You got a whole degree C jump when you put the towel in there. If your thermometers were accurate that should not cause big problems with the hatch. The chicks should be able to handle that as long as your thermometers are accurate. If it were earlier in incubation I'd expect the chicks to hatch pretty early, maybe as much as two full days. This late it should not matter. If the temps went up 2 full degrees C I'd be worried.

If I had to choose between raising the humidity and raising the temp 1 degree C I'd raise the humidity. But 1 degree C would be my limit. You are not in a great place, I'd really like to know why the towel is raising the temperature, that just doesn't sound right. But you are balancing which is the lesser evil.

Good luck!
