Help?!?! The best mite treatments.

Ok I have been reading up on mites and I have a few questions. Do I use seven 10% or 5%. I'm guessing its a pretty bad infestation I had no idea what in the world was crawling on me when I reached in the nestin box to get eggs. They are red and like blackish. Some of their feathers are In bad condition but I figured I was from their previous owners food rations or molting. Well now all the babies look weird feathered and have mites. They are about a month old maybe a little more. What is DE and where do I get it?? I plan on burning some wood ASAP to do the wood ash but I'd like to treat them and coop first. I have dog flea and tick dip is that safe? Also does mites cause the hens not to lay as well?

Definitely 5%. There are a lot of other options these days, though. A lot of people like Spinosad.
