Thank you for asking! Since the chicks have basically occupied me for the last few days I love to talk about them
So I started with 7 eggs in a Brinsea Mini Advance. Local person gave me the eggs for a school project with my Pre-Kindergarten class, I have a mixed age group from 3 to 5 year olds. Two candled at 7 days had no development. I left them in because I hadnt found this great website yet! Took them out at lockdown last friday. So 5 eggs, One hatched at 1130am in front of all the kids yesterday. The other at 705 for me, and not sure when the next two hatched but based on looks I would say that chick 3 arrived sometime quickly after I left at 715pm last night. He/She???? Is chocolate colored so cute! The 4th egg must have hatched early this morning, I am guessing 6am? It was pretty wet when I got to work. He has seemed fine most of the day but kind of crashed this afternoon, I had one more egg I wasnt sure on but couldnt tell if it had pipped because the other 4 were all over the incubator and bumping the 5th egg. I decided to remove them from the incubator and the 4th baby was having a super hard time. I made a choice to put him back in the incubator and check egg five. It had expired in the egg, I am guessing before lockdown, it was pretty well formed but didnt make it, I feel bad about that but know that nature just is what it is. Not sure whats going on with number 4, he wont really move much and just kinda seems sick? I figure if he makes it through the night I can see what I can do for him then. The hour drive home would not have helped him nor can I sleep at our school, so again I will just see what nature does, it is hard to lose them though
The other 3 for the most part seem great! The first guy does have a weird foot ? Its almost like he is pigeon toed? I have pictures but I have no idea how to post them here. So I figure for five fertilized eggs we had a great success! I just hope that 4 makes it! Also that I am able to explain it well to my kids if he doesnt!
