HELP. Tom with a swollen neck/head

Sadly. We had to put him down today. When we got home he wouldn't move, drink, or eat anything. He was just laying there. I wish I knew what had happened to him. I am pretty sure he had an allergic reaction to a sting of some sort.

I am so sorry to hear about your tom. You can still find out why he died. You can send his body off to your local lab and they will do a necropsy. Do you still have his body?

Ok, I'm glad that I'm not alone. His ears are swollen. I'm thinking he is sick. My avian vet said years ago that a turkey can be sick and not show any signs until days later. I'm thinking we need to get him started with some type of meds Kathy. Well, at least I would, being as though I see areas of the face that should not be as swollen as they are.

How would you treat it Kathy if he were at your place?
No your turkey isn't sick your turkey actually has a punctured air sack you can hope it heals or take it to vet or brave enough deflate it.. I just to mine out if you have 2 Tom's together if very well could of happened while fighting, a neck get stepped on and you can have a pointed air sack . I just took mine out and found where it was punctured at mine was worse then yours. I just didn't eat it to suffer so it went to freeze camp. I don't know how to deflate it but I'm sure some one probably does ....... Good luck
