Hello,

I have been incubating 17 eggs for 35 days!!! I almost gave up on them! Glad I didn't. The Temp 100.5 with a 50-60% humidity. One has hatched. None of the other eggs have any sign of opening/pips. The turkey chick is walking around and chirping.

We have a chick brooder outside in our barn with a heat lamp. I knew that we would not get a good hatch rate and purchased three turkey chicks.

How soon do I need to get the chick to the brooder so that it can get access to food and water?

How can I safely transport the chick?

Thank you!

You can move the poult to the brooder 2-3 days after the other poults that have pipped are done hatching. When I moved mine to the brooder, I just held the poult with both hands and placed them in gently, making sure to show them where their water was by dipping their beaks in for a very quick second.
