Hello there,
A little background:
So I have a small backyard flock of 9...three of which I got about three weeks ago all from the same place, they are just over a year old. It is these three that are the issue....
1 is an Andulasian (who is molting, and I actually don't really like her)
1 is a Chantecler
1 is a Rhode Island Red
Prior to these three I had four Ameracaunas from chicks now about 4 months old....after I added the 3 mature egg layers everything seemed fine and the RIR seemed to be at the top of the order. About 2 weeks ago I got two white Silkie chicks about 5 weeks old, who have taken to the Chantecler as their mom.
About three days ago I noticed the Andulasian and the Chantecler really bullying the RIR, chasing after her and teaming up on her jumping on her pecking her and pulling out her feathers....they won't even let her leave the coop!
The poor RIR just submits and lays down too and they just beat her up over and over again, I keep the food in the run so now I've been putting some in there just for her so she can actually eat!
ANYWAY....I'm wanting to get rid of the Andulasian cause I don't care for her attitude anyhow, but if I do this will the Chantecler ease of on my poor RIR?!? I was thinking it could have been because of the silkie chicks, in defense, but I'm not so sure, because the RIR is so docile, she has recently started laying, that is the only thing that I'm aware of thats changed.
Thanks for any feedback!!
P.S. my Ameracaunas are amazing, just love them! The silkies are also great, very entertaining and curious
