... my two silver polish chicks are not doing well. They sit weird with there heads down, ive been helping them drink water, they don't want to eat. I boiled up some egg for them and they don't want anything to do with it. Im really not sure what to do now. One eye isn't open. Im completely stressing out right now!

how old are they? where are they living? what are they standing on (pellets, shavings, etc.)? what are you feeding them? is there blood in their poop? are they pooping at all? do they have pasty butt?

tell us about their living conditions and more about the chicks themselves, where you go them from, when, how long you have had them, etc...

How are they doing now?

They just arrived today, right? Exhausted chicks will go to sleep standing up, with their head hanging down, sometimes. Or, they could be in trouble. I would switch to giving them a sugar water solution, if they are weak. It will give them a little more blood sugar and help them feel better, if their blood sugar is low.

Be careful that you are doing a drop at a time and letting them swallow, so they don't asperate on the liquid, inhaling it.

They came in today, they are on paper towels covering wood shavings. They have regular drinking water, the have medicated feed, i have not seen them poop. They are currently breathing, and i have been helping them drink periodically. They also have some hard boild egg chopped up very fine. They lay down with there head on the ground, one manged to get up and walk get over to the hard boild egg. The other 15+ chicks from the shipment are fine, it's just these two silver polish.

if you have gro-gel or electrolytes for the water or any other brand that it comes in, i would definitely use that... if not, a tiny bit of sugar in the water for those weak ones... they might just be very tired from their journey. as long as you are gently dipping their beaks just once at a time, and every so often, then they should be okay.

make sure the heat lamp is making it around 95 degrees inside the brooder...

good luck! and update us on how they are doing! it sounds like you are doing everything right!

Okay, Thanks. One is up and moving around drinking, the other not so much. Im doing the sugar in the water now! Thank you so much!

Take some of the sugar water and mix it into the feed to make a mash - soupy so they get water and feed at the same time. Those that have had a hard trip need to sleep too - they are exhausted. The electrolyte/vitamin for the water is great and so is the gro-gel. Good Luck

Good luck! Everyone's already posted what I would suggest to do. Hope they both pull through and they're just exhausted from their trip.
