HELP urgent egg that is making noise!

Help please I dont' know what to do - Doris has left the nest with 5 little chicks but there was one egg left I presuemed was dead (day 23) went to put it in the bin and it was chirping. What shoudl I do?????

I have no idea if I've done the wrong thing or not - I have tried to take the shell away to get to the beak but haven't been able to find it so have kind of taken the whole top off I have olive oiled it and it was cheeping and is moving. My neighbour is home so getting the 'bator off her in a minute.

Sorry cross posted - that was what I thought best too but with her just pushing it out I don't want to risk it and now I've made the little hole Gosh this is nerve wracking

However, I’m wondering why she keeps rejecting it. That could mean something is wrong with the chick. But maybe not.

Maybe she knows it's going to be a rooster!

I moved it into the incubator - it was still (I guess) breathing - I could see it moving in and out. I thought I'd let it be in a good incubator (rather than the oven!!) for a little while before I did anything else. Bad decision - when I went back it wasn't making the breathing (heart beat?) movements so I opened the inner membrane but it was too late it had died. I feel awful, I should have been more decisive early and I think I would have had more chance of helping it The shell was hugely difficult to get through even with a metal spike tool and even the inner membrane was really difficult so I'm not sure if that is normal or abnormally strong / difficult. The chick looked perfect - a little Orpington. RIP chicky

Please remember the "If only" and "should have" type statements are only helpful if you are learning what to do differently.

its hard to know when to go in. Ive always been a more hands on hatcher, and i think im getting a better feel for when theres something wrong but im still too late for some.

I'm a total newbie so this is a huge learning curve - I tried my best - I know next time that I should probably move a bit quicker - if mum has already kicked it out and no sign of pipping by day 23 then something is goign on - may as well try to help or it will die anyway.

Thank you - absolutely - I've learnt sooo much and will take on board all I have read / learnt today!

It is so much easier delivering human babies - at least I know what to do!!!!
