Well, we have reached the point where a brooder just won't cut it anymore. We have an exsisting flock of chickens (4 hens and 1 roo) that are almost 18 weeks old as well as a new group of chicks that are now almost 6 weeks old. My coop set-up is made up of 2 parts, a coop that can comfortably house 12-15 chickens and a run that attaches to the coop.

The run can be removed and could be used seperately (which is what we did when we were waiting for the coop to be finished). The question is: Is it gonna mess up our exsisting flock to remove the run and use it for our younger group till they can be integrated with the older ones.
You can't really see it, but the chickens enter the run to go into the coop. If we remove the run, they will enter the coop by simply going up the ladder. The older flock free-ranges all day and only goes in at night. We have 1 1/2 acres and plenty of shelters that the chickens hang out in. They rarely go in the run, except for snacking on feed, until it's time to go to bed.
$$$ is tight, so we are trying to find a way to use what we have instead of building/buying something else.
