Hi all...

I need some help. We have attack wasps living in the eves and possibly inside my little coop. My daughter went out the other day to collect eggs and one flew right up and stung her in the nose. Now a friends child went to look at the chickens and immediately got stung!

There is a bunch hanging out flying around the eves near the egg door.

What shall I do?

I have some "poison free" wasp spray. Says it is safe to use around children pets and plants. Would that be ok to use?

any other ideas? I just can not have these little thugs claiming my coop as their territory.

Thanks!

I have heard that real soapy water will help get rid of wasps. Painting the coop interior ceiling blue is supposed to keep wasps away once you get rid of them.
Spray them at dusk too when they are resting. Maybe someone else can offer some other suggestion as well.
Good luck

You may have to call a specialist to get rid of the wasp nest. They're less active at night, so you can collect eggs then, as well as move the chickens out if necessary.

Hi,

Careful,careful...........

The Wasps Feel The Vibration Of Your Approach When The Nest Is Inside.

They Attack Movement. Move Slow And Light Footed.

At Night.....yes They Are All More Docile Until Aroused. Think About It.....there Are Fewer Home During The Day. That Means Less Danger To You.

The Queen Stays Home...you Need To Kill Her And Destroy The Nest.

Other Will Return And Be Very Angry...then They Will Fly Away To Die.

Yes I Am In Pest Control In My Other Life.

Sorry, I Know Of No Safe Poison.

Warm, soapy water spray will knock them off of the nest. Stomp them with your foot and remove them from the coop. Sometimes they don't die right away and can still sting. It may be best to try this when it starts to get dark, so that you won't get attacked.

Soapy water in a spray bottle works great. I have used it plus it is also safe around children and pets. Make a mild solution with dish soap. What it does is drown them, Regular water repells off them but soapy water sinks right in . They hit the ground instantly and in a few seconds they are dead. Don't ever let the chemical companies know about this or they will have you killed. LOL
