Please help us.
I have a 26 month old Americana hen that has suddenly become very ill.
When I let them out this morning I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. I cleaned and refilled waterers, nothing.
This evening when I called the girls all back to the run, I noticed this hen's wing looked like it was drooping. I thought she was injured. Probably from the rooster, I thought. I picked her up, checked her out and didn't see any obvious problem, and she even moved the wing.
She still ate a little scratch, then she went and sat with some of the other hens under the tree in the run. I went to put something away and all the chickens came running because they thought I was getting more scratch out, she did too, so I thought she must not be too bad.
Tonight just about 40 minutes ago I went out to close up the coops and count heads and she was up in her usual spot on the roost. As I was counting I heard a loud, sneeze like sound come from her. I watched her and realized she looked like she was gasping for air. Her eyes were closed, beak open, breathing heavy. I can hear her breathing.
I scooped her up and brought her in the house, she's in a box resting, but doens't look good at all!
In my panic, I thought bronchitis, then lung worms...?? Didn't know so I dosed her with 1/2cc of Tylan 50, and then 1/2 cc of valbazen. I dripped some water in her mouth too. She's still alive, but I have not idea what this is and don't feel like I have time to try and figure it out on line or in my chicken health handbook. I really don't want to see any of my other chickens get this.
I lost another Americana several weeks ago, and I'm wondering if this was the same thing. My husband said the other hen that passed had looked disoriented and staggered around, that morning when he opened the coop and she was dead when he went back about an hour later. She had been fine the day before. No sign of any injury, nothing....
Please! Please! Somebody give me an idea what this might be....any input would be sooo much appreciated!

I forgot to mention she will suddenly make that "hiccuppy" sound and jump...not often, about every 20 minutes or so.

Please help.

Anybody?? She's still alive but seems to be jumping and making that hiccuppy sound more often. Please.....??
