Pics
Yes, it was her second batch. 8month old Welsh Harleq.
they are so pretty. Someone just posted that they want to rehome 7 WH but neglected to say where they were... but I asked.

To get back to your egg. When ducks first start laying their shells are very very hard so if hers are that way you might have to help a big. How big is that hole you made?

Taking a pic now. And yes, that's something I noticed a month ago that her eggs are Very hard. And the hole, taking a pic now. I truly regret making that hole, I'm sorry... I read and read about it and thought I was doing right. But sending it now

My older runners girls have egg shells that are very thin now despite all the oyster shells they eat and extra calcium I supply. My 2 young ones that just started laying have very thick and hard shells. I've read recently that it may cause a problem hatching because of the thickness of the shell.

If the membrane is NOT connected to the shell where you broke through the shell to make your little hole you might could pick at it very very carefully once you can see the little bill. I used a hemostat or tweezers and just chipped away but not right now!

That shouldn't cause a problem and you've made it on the right end. I wonder if it's big enough to dry out the membrane? Does it look withered up and dry inside that hole? How close to the hole is that membrane?

I see the membrane skin not far from the shell, maybe ¼-½ from shell itself. It looks white with pinkish tint behind it. Looks like wrinkled skin. Was like that from start

the membrane might be loaded with veins which you can't see unless it's wet. When I did my hatching I had this huge hole and dry membrane all over the little one. I thought I was home free until I put the vaseline all over the membrane and all the veins showed up real fast and big.
