Help! Weak chick!

What causes a chicken to puff her feathers out, walk and stand kind of stiff, but otherwise seem semi normal? She’s not paralyzed, she has an appetite, eating and drinking and pooping like normal. No respiratory problems, no pasty butt. She scratched in the bedding when I put her to bed but won’t lay down.

Standing fluffed up in that hunched posture does suggest coccidiosis. It wouldn't hurt to treat just in case.

No thank you for the suggestion! I am always very wary of cocci!

I would go ahead anyway. We've had coccidiosis three times, and only one of those times did I see blood. Most of us do the severe dosage, and I'd do them all as it won't hurt them. Stop giving any vitamins during treatment, but they'll need some afterward to replenish their B1 (thiamine).

Thank you so much! I hope she will! I’ve had cocci in a chick once before and she ended up being totally fine so hopefully this girl will be the same!
