Help what breed is this chicken and is it a rooster?

Our beautiful chicken has started making noise at sunrise. We got him through our two year olds daycare and was told it was a female Australop.

But doesn't look like one. We also have an Isa brown but doesn't look anything like her either.

He is most definitely a cockerel. How long ago did you get him? The obvious signs have been there for a while.

I will take a stab at breed...
I think he looks like a rhode island red.

Yes he is all boy.

Definitely a cockerel and not a Rhode Island Red with that black in the wings and shoulders. I'm thinking it's a mixed breed.

Thanks looks like we'll have to re-home this beautiful little guy. We got two chickens about three months ago, never had them before so we're kind of ignoring the signs hoping that he wouldn't crow so we could keep him but they are banned in our neighbourhood sadly.

Real bummer you cannot keep him. Looks like the kiddo likes him.

you might be able to keep him if you were to use a no crow collar and it worked successfully.
