Help! What breed is this??

Can someone tell me what kind of chicken this is.. I was told it was a sex link but my mother has them and they are black and half the size of

[/IMG]our hens and ours have feathers on their feet ( they are also a bit nasty with the other hens as they are a lot bigger but all the same age. I have two and they both started laying eggs and my
Other hens have not (silkie, RI reds,plymouths bar and polish top hats)

Definitely not a sex link--and that's a rooster.

Sex links can come in red--your Mom's sex links are Black Sex Links. But this boy is not one of them, because male RSL are actually white.

First of all your chicken is a male if you didn't know, second of all that's a cross bred chicken, not a pure breed. There are many types if sex links. There are red sex links, black sex links, golden sex links, white sex "links and there are many more. A sex linked chicken is easy to sex. For example, with a red sex link roosters are white but the hens are brown. That's why they were created so sexing can be a easy job. Black sex link hens are black but the roosters are barred with some brown patches around.

I have seen them both lay eggs. I thought they were too until I saw that. I have a rooster and he is nicer then these two.

On second thought he may be a buff brahma but I'm not quite sure.

Oh wow I just looked up buff brahma and that's them dead on! It still doesn't explain their sex though.. I have seen them run to the coop and lay an egg. Only once but they do look like roosters. I'm confused by these two birds.

Buff Brahma Rooster, no chance that bird layed an egg.

I truly think this is male. He may have been in the coop when an egg was being laid, but it didn't come out of him.

This is both of them, can you tell if they are both roosters? I have had horrible luck with my chickens! I'm new to having chickens and in Rhode Island you have to buy 12 to get any chickens and I was told they were all hens.. Guess what this now makes 6 that are roosters! So much for eggs!
