Help! What breed is this??

This is both of them, can you tell if they are both roosters? I have had horrible luck with my chickens! I'm new to having chickens and in Rhode Island you have to buy 12 to get any chickens and I was told they were all hens.. Guess what this now makes 6 that are roosters! So much for eggs!

Yep, those are both roosters. See the long, skinny feathers hanging down on either side of their backs in front of their tails? Those are saddle feathers, and only roosters get them. They're also getting their long, rooster tail feathers. Those red wings are a good indicator of maleness, too.

If the person who sold you the birds sold you sexed birds, then I think you have a really good case for them to take the roosters back and give you your money back.

Those two look almost identical to a buff brahma rooster, but I don't think they are pure brahma. They are definately roosters, large comb and wattle. Those saddle feathers and large sickles scream roo.

So funny story... My husband and I were outside with the children while the chickens were running around the yard and the "brahmas" in question came over to us and my husband said "I really don't think they are roosters", he no sooner got the words out of his mouth and the brahma walked next to him and started crowing! First time we ever heard it (still a little weak)... Moral of story you were all right and he didn't like being called a girl!
