I got these when they were babies from some people that ordered them from MM (said they were some kinds of fancy layers) and couldn't keep them. They are now about 5 months of age and I don't have a clue as to what some of them are, except one maybe is a Rhode Is. Red? These are all hens..and soooo friendly. Of course they are all so spoiled...

Also...how do you pronounce: Ameraucana Almost all my regular layers are EE chickens and I don't know how to tell people what their fancy name is. Hehehehehheh

OK...appreciate any help. Here are some photos. If anyone needs more info on any of them, or more photos, please ask. Am just soooo curious. The 3rd & 4th photos are of the same hen. The last hen is jet black. Thanks a bunch!

I'm not a professional, but here are my guesses. Good luck!

1. Silver Spangled Hamburg?
2. Dunno... Blue something. LOL
3/4. Looks like MMs Blue Andalusians
5. I don't think RIR have white on them. Maybe a production red or I think people call one a Comet?
6. Sumatra?

And I believe Ameraucana and EE are different birds.

Pretty sure the top one is a Silver Spangled Hamburg. She's lovely!

Not positive on the others. I was thinking blue Sumatra for the 2nd one, but I'm totally not sure.

Ameraucana = uh-mare-eh-cah-nuh. At least I think so!

Wow...thanks for the information so far. I actually have 2 of the speckled hens. Here is a photo below of the other one. They are really stunning birds! I never heard of a Silver Spangled Hamburg...

The second hen is a beautiful bluish solid grey, another very elegant bird.

I know the brown and white is not a RIR...was thinking it is a sex link or something, have 2 of them also.

Thanks again for the replies. I thought EE were called Ameraucanas. Hmmmmmmmmm...don't know where I read that. What is the difference then?

I am thinking this may be a RI Red hen??

You'd have to talk to the 'Ameraucana Police' about exact differences. All I know is that EEs can be any color. They're like a mutt chicken.
That could very well be a RIR, it's a little fuzzy though.

The bird in the second picture looks like a Blue Andalusian to me.

Here is a pic of my Blue Andalusian, Smoke, at 11 weeks.

And this is Silver, at 10 weeks.

I love my Blue Andalusians! They are so bold and quirky. They lay white eggs.

Looks EXACTLY like my no. 2. She is always the first to come see what I have to offer.

Now for no. 3. lol Any ideas? She is jet black with polka dots all over, and a white mask around her eyes, more compact and not as rangy as the Andalusian and the Hamburgs. What a name...I can hardly remember that one.

This is my mystery chick from MM. He is white but has a black feather here and there, mostly on the back of his neck and the top of his tail...photos are at 4 weeks. He doesn't have any brown...that must be a reflection from something. Any guesses??

This is another photo of the hen I think is a RIR.

I am fixing up another house for these purebred hens. I do not want any of my other roosters breeding them. Am not sure what I will do with them other than let them be safe and be layers.

The # 3 you are showing looks a lot like a pullet that I have. I asked the hatchery what she was and they told me that they were pretty sure she was a Andalusian. Only 50 % of Andalusians are blue. The others are white and speckled and black. I think I have a black one also. My SIS got the only blue one in the bunch when we split the chicks up. Thats ok because I think they still have the blue gene. I don't have a rooster anyway. LOL
