I have 2 chickens I am concerned about!
First is a Marans/salmon favorelle cross. Looking pretty rooish at 7 weeks, but I am PRAYING that this is just early development & he/she will be laying and not crowing!
(Acts more like a pullet, no roo stance that I have seen. Comb is more dusky pink than red)

Bird in question #2 is a full salmon favorelle with NO dark spots, all creamy white. But that comb! And the pink on the face! Makes me wonder. I was so looking forward to a salmon favorelle fluffy girl. What are my chances?

If the cuckoo Marans was the mother, then #1 is a boy. Barring is sexlinked. (EDT: On second thought, are those breast markings barring? It's sort of weird.) Also, salmon Faverolle roosters have black breast feathers. The cross may have done something weird with that, but he's marked like a male. I'd say 100% cockerel.

#2 is marked like a female. Big comb notwithstanding, I say female for now.

I’ll take 1 out of 2! (I am not sure which parent was which on the probables roo) I will try and take better photos of his chest. I am trying to make heads of the patterning too!

#1 is definitely a cockerel.

Maybe it's the photo, but #2 looks too white to be a pure salmon Faverolles, and that breed shouldn't have much wattle development, if any, since they should have big beards and muffs instead. I think it could be a cross with some white breed and is probably a cockerel.
I really hope I am wrong about that, though.

Oh no! I will be contacting the breeder if that is the case! She said this was a pure salmon favorelle :hmm

Boo! It makes me sad, lol. I had my suspicions though. I will be contacting th breeder. She was very sure #2 was a pullet, and sold it as a SAlmon fevorelle, obviously something got mixed up!
