Help!!! What happened??

I have a broody hen by herself in a coop 3ft off the ground. I have a little ramp and pop door. The other day I saw an egg in the middle if the coop out from her clutch.
I put it back under her.
Then today I saw an shell outside the coop on the ground. The shell is like a chick hatched but no signs of a predator or anything.
He coop is completely enclosed with no signs of envasion.
Never have seen snakes or anything but mice around.
Suggestions??? I am stumped!!!

Could be the broody kicked the egg out of the nest in the first place, then destroyed it when you put it back in the nest. I've read that a broody will reject a bad egg. I don't know how accurate that is, but I thought I'd share it with you anyway.
