Thank goodness 7 so far have hatched after I thought I fried them. However, two seem to be stuck. One's membrane seems to be dry but Ive had others hatch out that the membrane under the shell looked that way. However, the other one the membrane seems very wet even though the humidity is at 70%. I know your not suppose to help but I carefully chipped just the shell away hoping it would be easier for him/her to break thru the membrane but so far nothing. Of course, its only been about an hour. What should I do? Leave them alone or help???

If the little guy/gal has already pipped and zipped the shell, you might be able to wrap the egg in a moist wash cloth to help moisten the membrane. Some have carefully taken the shell off but left the membrane and then moistened it with the wet wash cloth. I have not done this in the past as this is my first hatch, only repeating what I have seen other write.

The one chick with the wetter membrane finally has made it out but the umblical cord is still attached to him/her and it kinda looks like it has a prolapsed vent where the cord is attached. Its very pink and large. The other one still isnt doing anything other than breathing, which I think is a good thing considering the alternative. I will give it a little while longer and see about helping it out. I guess I can do what Ive seen others suggest on here and fire up the hot water shower and take it in the bathroom and help. Im just amazed that any hatched after I almost killed them with the heat stroke. Thanks for the advice.

How big is the lump attached to the umbilical cord that will be the belly button? If its really big it might be an issue but the size of a pea is ok. Sounds like it hatched too early. Sometimes when you help them their not quite ready and need another couples of hour to finish absorbing the yolk and by helping they kind of get out early because they can.
The umbilical cord should dry up now and snap off to leave the leftover yolk behind.

How long has the other one been zipped for?
If you have to help it then wrap it in a warm wet washcloth. Peel off eggshell from teh zipped area slowly, but not the membrane. Keep rwetting the washcloth to keep it warm. Wet the membrane with the wet cloth. If you can see blood vessels then put it back in teh incubator in teh cloth for a few hours. If no blood bessels peel back membrane until about a third is off the chick. At that point the chick will be able to get its head out. Put it back in the incubator in the washcloth and it should be able to hatch itself out from there, though it may take a few hours because it may still have yold to absorb.
If you unwrap it too far you risk getting a chick which pulls its insides out as it comes out of the egg, so best to let it at least hatch itself some of the way.
Hope that helps.

I had to help the other chick out too. I did the washclothe thing and it came right off. She was shrink wrapped I think because the entire membrane was dry even though the humidity was 70% in the incubator. Now Im wondering if the others that havent even pipped will hatch or they maybe shrink wrapped also and cant even move. If so, what do I do about them if they dont hatch by tomorrow. I dont even see pipping. I got everything completely off the other chick and put her back in incubator to dry and hopefully she will live. The other chick finally got loose from the shell but she is dragging around the umblical cord. The part its attached to does look like its about the size of a pea. Im just going to leave them alone and hope for the best.

Sounds like you did what you could

for you!

Im glad to report they are both doing ok so far this morning. I moved them into the LG as a brooder and they are still trying to get thier legs, poor things. The one with the cord attached still has it attached but its dried up and looks ok. The bump its attached to looks smaller so Im not sure what that is to tell you the truth. If they make it thru the day maybe they will make it. The other three eggs havent shown any signs or movement. Im wondering if they are shrink wrapped since the one chick was also. Should I candle them?Or leave them alone and give them a couple of days?

if there's no pips in those eggs, they shouldn't be shrink wrapped. thats only if they have pips that the air is able to get to the membrane, I believe
I don't know what day ur on, but you could leave them in there till like day 25, watch for leakage

. maybe candle then
