Help what would cause total hatch loss?

The nest outside, no i figured i'd leave it up to Mother Nature. My only fear is that she'll abandon them after they hatch. Reason being she'll be a year old come June. But so far she's showing very good decisions about becoming a momma. I suspect she's been sitting on her eggs at least two weeks (on & off) and pretty steady the last week. So if all works out there could be a bunch of ducklings running around sometime mid May.
I ment the ones in the incubator.

Hey AmyLynn2374,

I candeled them late last night/early this morning after getting home from work.

There's still four that look pretty dark but the rest look dark but also kind of sloppy when you gently roll the egg around. So I'm thinking they may not make it.

I'm gonna candle them again come Saturday, and see just how they all look. But I got this sinking feeling they all are done for, I guess we'll see come Saturday, that will be day 18, and by then there shouldn't be any question if there's a solid mass inside or not.

Hope you get at least a few!!

It's really amazing how some of these chicks can just pull at the heart strings! I've done a few hatches with the incubator and had many broody mamas. Right now I have the incubator full and lost one this morning ugh still get emotional when loosing that one you've been rooting for to pull through :(

Ok, an update. Out of all the eggs i had in the incubator all but one were a loss. Moe (the wife named him) was hatched on the 4th of May with a little assistance. He's a cute lil bugger, i believe he's a mix between my swedish blues & my cayugas. I'll get a few picks up soon. I now have 7 more eggs in the incubator, discovered from other nest around the yard. All looking not good.

Very true, in my case. The last group i was chatting about i found four completely developed ducks that just died. No peeping or anything, makes you just scratch your head wondering what happened.
