My duckling hatched very early this morning- like around 5 or 6 I believe. It is still in the incubator but is drying out well. I still have two other eggs in there I am waiting to hatch but I have the brooder box up to 92° Under the light. The duckling is chirping and moving around but the incubator is now only 94.1° with 70% humidity. I don’t want to jeopardize the hatching of the other 2 - when should I move the duckling? Here is a pic of how dry it is. Thanks everyone!

Once they are dry and upright they can go in the brooder, they can last up to 24 hours on the yolk they absorbed but its good to introduce it to food and water right away

Make sure the water is warm, mix starter crumbles with warm water too until it is soupy. When you put the baby in the brooder dip the very tip of its bill in the water and then the food, don't force it or go to deep it can inhale water

Once the first one knows where the food is it will show the rest as they hatch

Good luck with your hatch!

I take the ducklings out when they are slightly dry, the reason I don't wait till they are fully dry is that most of the time they jostle the eggs/thermometers around which may cause the other ducklings to become disoriented, everyone has there own way of doing everything though. AS long as you put them in a draft-free, warm brooder they will be fine.

Thank you all for the advice! It’s really comforting to know I can ask questions and have nice & knowledgeable people out there to help. Despite all the research I’ve done prior I feel like things just pop up sometimes!
