Hi, I'm just gonna cut to the chase. My incubator was running 99 for the first four or so days of incubation ( it is still air ) so i was told i would most likely get a late hatch. On day 5, i just had this urgency to move my thermometer to a place closer to where the eggs were on the turner. It read 102! so ever since day 1 i have been running between 101-102. Will i get an early hatch? If no, is it safe to go on lockjaw on day 19 instead because i heard a lot of people accidentally drown there chicks.

The recommended temperature for still air incubators is 101.5 F measured at top of eggs. The range of temp is pretty drastic from bottom to top of incubator so by measuring top of eggs that higher temp the inside of egg will be the proper 99.5F.

If you can get an old fan out of any old computer and wire it up to a 12v dc transformer you can set it inside the incubator to circulate the air. Within about 15 minutes I completely leveled out my still air incubator. You must remove the fan before the hatch or the chicks could get injured.

Just an idea! Good luck!
