Hi all!

So...unfortunately we built our coop and run on the hill...the valley part. And now since its raining so much the run is flooded. The coop is dry and fine, but there is water in the run. Will the chickens get sick?? We're planning on moving the coop and run when the weather clears up. I have a small bin of dry sand for them if they want a to take dust baths, but everything else is completely soaked and water is now filling the whole run... Is there anything I can do to make sure they won't get sick??

Just don’t let the run get too drenched or you run the risk of disease. Keep your chickens dry and maybe cover up your run for the future or put some bedding in the run like hay or straw.

When you do move your coop, make sure it is slightly slanted and just a few degrees in one direction that way rain will always wash away. If its just puddles they will be fine, but you said it was flooded, if it is really bad the water could fester over time but this seems like a short term thing. As long as they have enough areas where they can stand with out being in water up to their ankles it shouldnt be a real issue
