I lost 2 hens, I think it is due to the heat. We keep bouncin from really nice and cool days to this blistering heat crap.
Plus, my one stupid Speckled Sussex cock, chose the wrong day to break into the next pen and pick a fight with Flozelle, Feran's brother a big Black Orp. Flozelle cleaned his clock. When I got there, they had been going at it for a while, both were exhausted. And cause of the heat, Roscoe croaked overnite. Roscoe was a jerk. He was trying to pick fights with everyone, and that included me. No tears shed over him going. One of the girls was a rather average quality Blue. But, I did loose my CoChin girl. That was a bummer. From my best guess, the boy PoPz had been badgering her for too much fun in the sun. And it was only in the upper 90's. They were in either a covered pen or my CoChins are in up against the house on the north side and under 3 huge pine trees. It was just too dang hot for them I guess.
