Help with a duck problem

Hi over the last few days one of my ducks has started having problems walking, it can stand but now seems to have very poor balance (my friend said this would be because she’s been sitting on a nest for the last 26 days however I don’t think this would cause it), She is currently hatching 3 eggs which are due in a few days, I’ve booked her into a vet however they are unable to see her before Monday 29th June. I noticed something on her back however it seems like a fatty lump, not sure if it is a tick as it just looks like raised skin? Does anyone have any advice as to what they think could have caused this? Thank you

Welcome to BYC! The lump you took a picture of, is actually her oil gland. Could you upload a video to youtube/vimeo and copy/paste it here of her waking?

@Isaac 0 ..... It looks like it is up under a wing to me.
Could it be from the male mating? Maybe a scratch that got infected?

I’ve had a look on google and that does look like the oil gland, it’s located near it’s tail not under the wing, I’ve uploaded a video to YouTube, hope it shows here otherwise I’ll try Vimeo, thank you

What feed are you using? Can you add your location? I am hoping someone can come along and help you help her. @Miss Lydia @casportpony @shawluvsbirds @DuckyDonna @Jpat or anybody else. My brain cannot think of all the amazing folks on here.

Thanks for the reply, they have always been fed Allen and page pellets, and treats such as cucumber, peas and romaine lettuce, they are free to roam all day so not sure if it’s something she could have eaten in the garden, we have 6 ducks and have never had a problem with any of them, it just seems to have developed within the last 3 to 4 days, the vet was reluctant to move her as the eggs have just started to hatch

That was my first thought too. Looks like oil gland to me as well.
