Please HELP! My hen MaryAnn is all tore up from a new Rooster I got. I put her up and some how she escapes on me.(my chickens are free-rangers) Now I have her in a solid mini-coop to herself but she is so tore up under her wings you can see bone! I keep it cleaned out and doctored but I am going to start her on a round of penicillin now as well My question is should i dress these wounds? They are really bad now and I am so worried about her!! She is my little buddy she follows me into my house and I just can't stand the thought of losing her!

Not sure why but this rooster is dead set on her, he has not bothered my other hens like he has her and he stands at her coop all day now is that odd? I have never have one do this before!

I would leave her wounds open and apply plain triple antibiotic ointment or Vetericyn to her wounds twice a day. Fly strike is possible, so I would bring her inside to heal for a few days. When you get ready to reintroduce her to the clock, so it gradually fencing her off from the other hens, and then remove the rooster for at least a week or two. Only let him back in the flock with close observation.
