So apparently my Anconas are not Cayuga mixes? I am so confused now, the farmer instists its a breed trait to have the blue green sheen but the boondockers website doesn't mention it ( even though they referenced that website) unless it's somewhere else on the site that I haven't found.. And once on this forum some one Mentioned that the chocolate and white have the sheen... No where else in the breed description of Anconas does it mention them having this trait and it's something Ive only known to be attributed to the Cayugas.. If it is also an Ancona train can some one link me the resources as to where it says this or how they ended up with that trait since neither of their parent breeds the that they came from seem to have the trait.

It's funny that you mention this because I have just in the past couple of days seen the "beetle green" or blue/green sheen you are talking about with my black Anconas... It is showing up really clearly on two of my little flock.

If you scroll down to the bottom of this page, which is all about Ancona markings and colorings, it is mentioned as being really desirable. Not that I ever plan to show my birds, but it's great to know that they are of a good quality nonetheless. http://worthitfarms.jigsy.com/ancona-colors
