Help with baby quail

My son bought a gambel quail last night, got home and his toes are all curled up..used the tip on here for taping toes..walking better.
Rear had a rock hard white lump where he should be pooping..washed him off carefully now looks like he pooped his guts out..he is peeping and walking as best as he can and drinking..any suggestions? My son is so sad, he has had a hard time with the quail this year..

Are they being fed gamebird starter? Have you given it probiotics?

Some types of new world quail require probiotics for digestion, gambels quail are one of them. You can either use an avian probiotic or human probiotics. Adding plain yogurt to the water is one way, another would be to open a human or avian probiotic tablet into the water. If you overdose it, it may not want to drink the water so start slowly.
