Help with Breed and Gender (bantam cochin?)

Hi Everyone, we picked up these two chicks and we were told the one the left is a female buff laced polish, but the one on the right is unknown. My guess is a bantam cochin (UK Pekin). And we are at a complete loss on gender. Any help would be great!

The one on the left does not look like a polish. Polish chickens have crests which are present from the start, like in this photo:

I had the same thought! But was hoping they were right due to the coloration aroud the eyes. (Fingers crossed!)
Any thoughts on the other?
