hello! Hoping you can help me ID breeds and genders for my 6 week old chicks from Meyer Hatchery. 5 are part of the rainbow assortment, 5 are part of the rare breed assortment and 1 Meal Maker. In theory I should not have more than two of any breed. Let me know if you need more pictures! I have included my own best guesses.

1. Poppy, Easter Egger pullet?

2. Buttercup, unknown pullet? Edit: Red Sex Link

3. Lilac, Lavender Orpington Pullet?

4. Daisy, Easter Egger pullet?

5. Posey, Egyptian Fayoumis, possible cockerel? Has started chasing and picking on the other girls.

7. Dahlia, Barred Rock pullet?

8. Rosy, originally thoughtBlack Sumatra but now I have no idea, since she seems to be keeping the white feathers. Pullet? Edit: Ancona, hoping this explains her big comb!

9. Dandelion, unknown pullet?

10. Magnolia, Lavender Orpington cockerel? I guess this just because he is still so dang raggedy and he stands with his head further back over his body. Anybody know why he looks so terrible? Lol

11. Iris, Speckled Sussex pullet? Edit: Russian Orloff or Swedish Flower Hen

So pretty

Thanks for your help! These are my first chicks and I’m in love. Also very anxious to know what they all are!

Thanks guys! I think you are right about Rosy, @chrissynemetz I’m changing my guess on Iris though, I think she’s a Swedish Flower Hen! I’ll look into Russian Orloffs to be sure.

@Roo5 do you think both unknown red girls are the same? There seems to be so many different red breeds that look similar. They did look different as chicks.

I think Buttercup is definitely a red sex link, I think Sunflower could be a sex link, or she could be a production red or new Hampshire red, which are both Rhode Island Red crosses. There are lots of red breeds lol

Thanks everybody! I should not have 3 EEs, according to Meyer’s policy on the assorted breed orders, so hopefully one of the three is a real breed instead of a hybrid.
