Hello

We have just had our first hatch and we are keen to identify the girls from the boys but from what age can you start to tell?

Also we are confused about what breeds we have been given as most of the eggs were labelled with colour not breed. However we were given three eggs that were labelled B.Rhode and as we are not familiar with the breeds we are not sure what this means, is it a Barred Rock, Rhode Island Red cross? (thats purely a guess) The farm we got them from said that with these three we would be able to tell the Roos pretty much straight away, does anyone know what the signs for this are? i can post pics if this would help.

Thank you

If they are crosses they may be sex links which means the boy chicks are one color and the girls another. Pictures might help the more experienced folks (not me - lol). I wuld also label the picture with what was on the egg. And perhaps egg color.
