This crosses several forums so I am placing it in several spots. Hope someone can give me good advice on what to do. No Roo. I've had hens go broody but of course, No Roo. This time around I slipped 7 fertile eggs under her. But I am worried about the height of the nest. I tried moving her and the eggs into a dog crate on the floor and she went nuts. So I moved them back. You can see her live by going to www.clucksnducks.com Click on Live CAMS and you will see my white rock sitting in the nest and how high it is. Chickies will fall, will they not?? They are due to hatch this coming Saturday. IDEAS??? PLEASE HELP!! What modifications do I need to make?

I had the same thing happen last year and even though I made the broody a nice place, she refused to be moved - so like you I moved her back. My main problem was keeping other hens out of the nest, but she managed to hatch 2 babies. When it got close to hatching time, I attached about a 4in board to build up the entrance to the nest which kept any from falling out. She kept them in the nest for about 2 days & then I was able to move Mama & little ones to a safe area where other chickens wouldn't bother them.

You could also try moving her again once she is really attached to her eggs. I had another broody that I was able to move with no problem so I guess it's just a personality thing.

Good luck!
