Help with budgie cere question?

I just noticed tonight that our oldest budgie, Daedalus, who is about 2 years old, has this going on with its cere:

I’ve never seen anything like that. Please tell me it’s just a breeding-hen thing and not a testicular-cancer thing?

What color was it's cere before? Was it male or female?

Than I would go with it's a female and you are just seeing some color changes. Currently one of my females cere is thickening up which happens sometimes.

Could be scaly face mites, or it could be a rather extreme case of the hormonal I'm ready to breed crusty thing the girls do. You can try putting a little mineral oil on it with a Q-Tip, just in case it's mites. It looks to me like you have 2 girls there.
