Hi everyone!
I recently hatched my first set of buttons. They just reached 4 weeks old and I was hoping someone may be able to help me figure out the sex/color. I've scoured the internet for pictures of different colors and I think one or two of them have some red vent feathers starting. I have guessed a couple of them but would love some input from the experts :) ! ( sorry for the picture quality - I am still learning how to hold these little guys and the phone and get a decent picture).
I also had a question about separating them - at what age do you normally separate them and how do you determine which pairs go together?

I think 2 is silver and the others cinnamon but it's a bit hard to tell at this stage. If you remember what they looked like as chicks, silvers are yellow with a silver tone and cinnamons are yellow with red stripes on their backs.
3 is (almost) definitely male with those pink feathers, I think I see pink feathers in the tail of 4 as well. I'm not quite sure I agree with 007Sean on the bib of #1. It has a line of different colored feathers on the chin, but it doesn't have to be a bib. I'd wait a week or 2, then you'll know for sure (with all of them). They should be fine together for that long.

With regards to pairing up, if they are not related I'd select a pair that either seems to like spending time together or just choose as you please and see if the birds accept your choice :)
Mine are always related (because they are naturally hatched by their parents) so I usually split them up in all male/all female groups around 6 weeks and either sell them or wait till I get chicks from another pair/buy a partner for one, then pair them up.
