I have two turkey chicks that could not hatch. I'm working on one of them but one of them is clearly dead.

The chick had popped but somehow managed to get something stuck out of the hole that dried out. I'm guessing it was supposed to get it's beak out to breath but got stuck instead.

the dried out brown spot is what was sticking out of the pip hole. I'm guessing that is what shrink wrap looks like but I've never seen it before

It actually looks kind of "sticky" to me. Was there excess moisture and/or goop left in the egg with the chick? If it was sticky, and it tried to turn to get into hatching position, it could have become "glued" to the membrane and unable to complete its rotation.

Not particularly? But maybe. I definitely think it got trapped, although several others hatched in the same batch without issue.
