Help with chicken door?

what KIND of chicken door? hinged, sliding, what?

Look at peoples' coop pages on this site, you will see many MANY photos, often including construction details.

Have fun,

Pat

Ours is hinged with a piano hinge, is 10" tall and the width of the space between the studs. There is a hook and eye to keep it open, and if needed we can rig up something to keep it closed easily. I hope this helps.

Here are pictures: Let me know if you want more details.

In closed position (for nighttime):

ours is in a track that is built into the wall with a pulley and aircraft cable. It works really well. Here are some pics before the wall was insulated and sheeted

And this is what it looks like on the outside .....with a ring as the handle, you just pull down and hook the cable in the eye hook to keep door open

and at night to make sure nothing wedges it open a skeletin key is slid in on top for it cant be opened unless the key is removed, and it takes turning it to get the key out.

Thanks! I really appreciate the photos. I am not sure what I want to do yet and I am a kinesthetic learner so seeing photos really hopes as opposed to just verbal instruction.

I think I am apt to go for a hook and eye closer door, love both os these though! Thanks again
