Hi there, I'm quite new to keeping chickens and we just hatched some chicks under a broody hen and i have them on chick crumb, but i don't know when i can put them on to laying pellets or anything else to do when they are a wee bit older,
any advice or general things to do would be good

Thanks

Feed the flock chick feed until the chicks are around laying age, 20 weeks or so, then you can switch to layer. The chick feed will be fine for the rest of the flock for a few months if you offer oyster shell on the side so the laying hens can get the calcium they need. You can feed starter, then grower, or a starter/grower combined feed. Or you can feed a flock raiser.

Hi welcome to Backyard chickens. All of your chicken questions can be answered here.

You start putting them on Growers pellets at 8 weeks. then put them on laying pellets at 21 weeks. if there is anything you want to know just ask me.
