So I currently have 5 bresse hens. Horribly disappointed with breese btw, slow growing, eat a ton, messy and rotten personalities on the roos. I held back 5 of the hens I found laid nice big eggs were large and not nasty (although not friendly even though I hatched them and never done bad by them). So, what do I cross them with to get a much faster growing, hopefully less high strung bird?

Sorry nobody replied to you. I don't raise meat birds so I'm not much help. Did you figure anything out though? There are a lot of meatbird growers here so maybe check out other threads in this forum for a good breed to cross them with.

If this breed disappoints you in many points, I'd cull them all and start all over again with a better dual purpose.
In my case, Orpington hen X legbar roo gives me cockerels that weight 3.5 kg at 4 months. 1.5 kg at 2.5 months.
