help with deworming.

ok my tsc finally restocked all their inventory and i have lost my thread for deworming information. they have safeguard for goats if i get the paste how much do i give my birds they are full size hens bo, black astro, dark brahma, rir, and bcm rooster. also for my babies i have 8 ee that are 2 and 3 months old, bo 2 and 3 months old and barred rock that is 2 months old with a white leghorn rooster that is 6 months old. any help would be appreciated

A "pea" size amount given to the adults and Leghorn rooster, small "pea" size for the rest of them. Redose again in 10 days. Safeguard (fenbendazole) is a safe wormer.

is there any withdraw time from eggs did a treatment with wazine and throwing 10 eggs away each day for 2 weeks was very painful it broke my heart all those yummy eggs

Hi, I've used something called Verm-X. Got a complimentary sachet when I bought the coop and it said eggs still safe to eat during treatment. It comes in a seed type "format" and it instructed 2.5gm per bird per day for three days in a row and then again the next month. My girls seemed fine with it. There may be a stockist near you, but there is a web site that I've not checked out and they may be able to send. www.verm-x.com

I'm in no way an expert or attached to any marketing company but I found it easy to use (added to food) as with anything like that it's hard to work out who's had what but figure there was as good a chance with that as any.

I understand, I dont like doing it neither. Worming and tossing eggs for a couple of weeks is a small price to pay for healthy hens for years to come. There are other wormers with less withdrawal times ie...flubenvet, pyrantel pamoate, rooster booster wormer. But your biggest bang for your money spent and broad spectrum coverage with ALL worms except tapeworms IS the wormer you purchased. Two weeks withdrawal is best. Some people eat the eggs anyway. It's up to you. I toss them.

Verm-X is ineffective as a wormer. Purchase safeguard liquid goat wormer/equine paste or valbazen liquid cattle/sheep wormer for worming...you'll be glad you did.
