help with duck pond?

I have a five foot kiddy pool for five ducks. I have built a biofilter using a five gallon bucket, charcoal, sand and gravel. I filter through about fifteen gallons a day but... I am still smelling the pond and don't want the neighbors to call animal control. I don't have access to unlimited water so changing it every three days isn't practical. Am I just not filtering enough? Can I add something to the water to help the smell?
Oh, btw I live in a small city on about .25 acre.

It looks like your filtration is insufficient. The charcoal is the one that should remove the items in question. I am not sure how your filter is. Is it one of those home made versions on youtube.? Another thing to consider is your animal load of 5 ducks. for small pool. Try to increase your filtration. Try to increase the amount of charcoal.. Remember that you do not need to throw away your used charcoal.. You can rinse it out and reactivate it by heating it. Kind of like baking it. Charcoal filtration works by having particles attach themselves to the surface of the charcoal granules,or chunks. Maybe try saving rainwater from roof drains can provide additional resource.??? Many peeps around here use rain barrels. to supply their garden needs.

Well hello. It is a d.I.y. filter. I will be increasing the amount of charcoal and see how it affects the water. I invested in a small battery operated water pump in order to create an hour of water circulation per day. Do you think this will help? It says it will pump approx. 200 gallons per hour.

See how well it works out. Maybe increase the time the pump runs. I know it is battery operated and battery life does get drained.
