Hi there,
So, long story short. I have a male and female pekin about 1 1/2 years old. A couple months ago she spent a month brooding her 10 eggs like the perfect mom, and my male pekin goose stayed attached to us like crazy.
So, her eggs hatch and I find out shes killed all of them, so I thought I go around the corner and both ducks are freaking out while this little wet baby f ok allowed them. The baby stayed with the mom and live over the next 24 hours. I go outside to find the day old baby floating in a puddle, barely breathing, with a massive gash on its head. Clearly a duck pecked him hard. He had blood on the inside of his eye and pretty much was dead. I held him upside down and squeezed his chest and water came from his mouth. After that I spent hours blowing drying him and pretty much just waiting to die. To my surprise he was alive and eating the next day. Anyways, fast forward a month and marlin is doing great and freaking huge. Everytime I take him outside, both ducks come charging and the male does anything he can to attack him. I mean he will barge through us and buck us to try and get to him. Even when hes in a little zip up carrier to take him outside, my male duck goose attacks it like crazy. I've br ou ught the baby outside almost everyday trying to get the male use to him, and it just ends up in a squawking death fight. Why on earth have they been like this towards their own baby? I swear to god they are pissed at me because I saved its life.

that makes so much sense. If marlin is big, like his dad size, do u think they can ever roam around together? Marlin is the first newbie to be ar ou und goose and his wife.

Yea I'm starting to think he is a boy. Even when we out hkm in the enclosed area my boy duck goose does nothing but bash into the fence trying to get to him

Maybe come Sep oct things will settle down enough they can be together. Don’t feel like your alone in this. I have to keep my drake and gander separated from spring to fall.

No kidding! Is that when the public raping stops? Lol
And do pekins mate for life? Like nobody ever else is involved or are they so close because it's just them 2? They roam together 24 7

Ducks don’t really mate for life drakes will mate with as many females as they have. And I see my females mating with both my drakes. When there are only 2 ducks they bond and become a flock of 2 they thrive on each other because they are flock animals.
