Help with Fan

The Uniden only had 2 white wires so I decided to use my cell phone charger because it had a red and black.

Josh, it's confusing, but the white isn't technically the *ground*. It's a 12V (most likely) fan and doesn't need a ground at all.

If it has 2 wires, it has a Live/Hot and a Neutral/Return. Terms depend a bit on where you are living

The 3rd wire on a PC type fan, if it exists, is always a Motherboard sensor connection.

Either way, sounds like yours is just fine

ps .... for those interested. The 12V PC case fans that are popular can very happily run on 9V, they will just run more slowly, which may suit some applications.
