Okay so I have two questions. My first question. The color silver in coturnix Quail is recessive correct? So with that being said, if I breed together two silver quail, will all of their babies be silver? If the line is clean. Second question, if I breed a silver male over a Texas A&m female, that has to Celadon gene, what color would the babies be and what color would the baby's lay?

Silver (SSC) is dominant, and double silvers can be fatal or have other health issues, so you'll want to avoid breeding them. There's a fair chance yours only have one copy.

White (A&M) is recessive, and silvers commonly carry white, so I would expect to see some whites or tuxedos if your silver male is a carrier and you breed the two. Color wise about half will be silver and half standard (i.e. pharaoh) if he is het for silver.

Celadon is recessive so you need one copy from each parent to get blue eggs. Tough to breed for it since you have to breed your male to figure out if he even carries it.

Oh wow, ok good to know! I'm not sure why I was thinking it was recessive 😅 Thank you so much for your time to type all of that out! I have one lonely male silver and some a&ms that will be breedable soon. So I was curious how that would work. And I figured about the Celadons. They are hard to come by around me so I was hoping maybe I could take the couple that I know I have and fiddle with it lol.

Hi I have some celadon, jumbo, and normal coturnix quail in the incubator do you think they could cross breed and if so what would the look like?

They're all coturnix, so they'll breed just fine. Celadon is recessive, so you probably won't get many, if any birds that lay the blue eggs. You will also lose the jumbo size. If those don't matter to you, breed away. As for what they'll look like, it depends on the colours that you have.
