Help with Hardwood Chips in run; cut feet?

Will these hardwood chips be an issue for chickens feet? Probably be 4 to 5 inches deepest part of the run.

Looks pretty much identical to the ones I'm using with no issues.

Those look close in size to the wood chips that I have in my run and chicken yard. I haven't had any issues with them.

Probably be 4 to 5 inches deepest part of the run.

No need for them to be that deep.
Can be a risk of high mold levels if the chips are fresh cut.
Do you have a place to store most of them and just add to run as needed?

Not an issue. In a month when it's all mixed up with native soil and poop, and decomposition has softened all the pokey bits, it will be even less of an issue.

Tough spot.
I have boards/logs/pavers around the inside of my run to keep the birds from digging out under the edge.
