We incubated our first clutch of Welsh Harlequins, and today is hatching day. :wee I woke up to a duckling fresh out of the shell and moving around quite a bit, I thought all was well, but now I'm seeing what looks like a yolk in the brooder. :barnie

I have 6 other ducklings in the incubator right now in various stages of hatch and I'm unsure what to do! Should I just sit and wait, do I need to risk opening the brooder.... What (if anything) do I do?

That could be egg goo and not yolk. Hard to tell by the picture.
Thank you, I was thinking the same thing, but wasn't sure!!! But if at least one other person thinks so... then I'm going with it! :fl I really don't want to open the incubator at this point, but I'm not sure if I should leave it there either... thoughts?

That also just looks like egg goop to me.

By the way, if it’s shrink wrapping you’re worried about, it’s okay. You can open the incubator briefly without any risk. Opening for a long time is what is risky.

Thank you!!! This is the first hatching after almost 20 years of having ducks and I feel like a nervous father pacing the waiting room with cigars in my pocket!
