So this has been the largest of my 7 hens I purchased about 6 weeks ago. My wife and I are skeptical about this actually being a female because of the large red head comb. It was sold to us as an Easter egger. Now I’m concerned as my town strictly prohibits roosters. All the other hens have yellow combs. Could this just be because she’s older or do I in fact have a rooster?

Thanks

I paid extra for sexed chickens too! Ugh this one was out favorite too. Had an outgoing personality. Not really sure where to start at getting rid of him. =(

It looks like a rooster to me also. It's comb is large for it's age and the tail feathers look pointy, not rounded. If you paid extra ordering pullets, I would reach out to the individual/hatchery because sometimes they'll reimburse your money or a pullet, and if you need help rehoming him try looking for local chicken pages on Facebook, that's where I've had the most luck. I'm sorry, it always sucks getting attached to a chicken only for it to have to be re-homed
